About Us . . .

The Aynor Volunteer Rescue Squad Inc. is an all volunteer, non-profit organization.  The rescue squad is chartered in the state of South Carolina and is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control as an emergency care provider.  The squad has Internal Revenue Services 501-C status.  The rescue squad is also registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State as a non-profit charitable organization.  The Aynor rescue squad is controlled by its membership and board of directors.  The active membership is limited to 25 members as defined in the by-laws.
The rescue squad responds to calls as dispatched by Horry County central communications (9-1-1 center).

The squad provides search and rescue for lost and missing persons.  The squad operates an advanced life support equipped ambulance.  The squad provides crash victim extrication and carries the  as well as air bags.

The squad provides emergency power and lighting.  The squad has a fully equipped boat for use by the Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
(S.C.U.B.A.)  team that responds to drownings and also assists other agencies.

The squad does stand-bys at athletic events, festivals, and many other activities.

We have a slogan that describes our goals of service; "Promoting Safety and Saving Lives".  Our primary area of operation is the Aynor, S.C. area but we are willing to assist other agencies when requested.  Millions of tourist have passed through Aynor over the years most of which are traveling to the Myrtle Beach area.  It is very expensive to provide emergency care but a service that most will agree is a necessity.  Our loved ones deserve the best care in times of emergency whether at home or on vacation.  Not many people think of emergency medical services until the need arises.

The rescue squad conducts fund raisers to provide the much needed revenue to operate. We have sponsored an annual gospel singing for four years featuring the McKamey's and also a gospel singing featuring Charles Johnson & the Revivers.  We annually sponsor a family portrait fundraiser conducted by Community Support Services of Goldsboro, N.C.   A very small portion of our funding comes from the Horry county government.
We are in need of funding so that the level of service we provide can be maintained as well as retire debt.  The squad is currently seeking grant funding from several sources and in 1998 we received a 1998 Sea Doo water craft to assist us with water rescue as part of a grant/loan program.  We are set up to receive donations, grants, trusts, bequests, legacies, devises, and gifts.  Donations are deductable for tax purposes.
